Don't migrate network printers

Hello,
i'm testing the actuall profile migrator.
Is it possible that i do not migrate the network printers in the profiles?

I have an new print server implemented and the users should search the network printers from the new print server....

Hi Dennis,

thank you for your interest in Profile Migrator.

The target profile is based on the default profile of the target system. So every user gets a small and clean new target profile.
Starting with this new profile, Profile Migrator migrates only these application and windows settings which are selected in the applications view.
The easiest way to not migrate the network printers is to deselect "Mapped network printers" and rerun the migration.

In my application tab from the profile migrator i don't select everything.
I migrate an user an i see the office templates and his shortcuts on the desktop in his new profile.
Why that?
Is it possible to say migrate all only no network printers?

In the online help i see this you already say:

Wenn Sie auf dem Zielsystem eine neuere Version der zu migrierenden Anwendung installiert haben, geben Sie dies hier an. Dazu müssen Sie in den Feldern "von Version" und "nach Version" die entsprechenden Versionsnummern einstellen.
Beispiel: Microsoft Office befindet sich in der Anwendungsliste. Sie möchten von der jeweils aktuellsten installierten Microsoft Office Version auf den alten Systemen bei der Migration direkt nach Office 2010 migrieren. Dann stellen Sie unter "von Version" "neueste installierte" und unter "nach Version" "2010" ein.
Einige ACS-Dateien bieten als Version lediglich die Auswahl "All". Dies bedeutet, dass die Einstellungen für alle bekannten Versionen dieses Programms gültig sind.
Installationsort
Auf 64-Bit Zielsystemen wird Ihnen angeboten, den Installationsort anzugeben: Neben dem eigentlichen Programmordner gibt es auf 64-Bit Systemen zusätzlich den gleichen Ordner mit der Endung "(x86)" für 32-Bit-Versionen von Programmen. Geben Sie hier den Installationsort der Anwendung auf dem Zielsystem an, um eine automatische Anpassung von Verweisen auf den Installationsort in den Anwendungseinstellungen zu ermöglichen. Diese Option ist für Betriebssystem-Einstellungen deaktiviert, da diese architekturunabhängig sind

Hey Dieter,
i found the error.
The migrator doesn't migrate everything and the profile already exists.
Then i delete the profile and migrate the OS settings again.
Then the migrator created me a new profile folder "username"domainname.
Why that?
The other profile folders are alway %username%.
If i log in with the user it creates me an new profile folder %username%.

Is it possible to say migrate all only no network printers?
Or must i selct it under Applications?

Hi Dennis,

nice to read that you found the error :-)

By default the name of the target profile directory contains the username and the domainname. If this does not match to your profile path setting in the AD user object you can use the variable %USERNAME% in the path to the target profiles.
E.g.: \\server\profiles$\%USERNAME%

This will create the target profile with just the username (without domainname). E.g.: \\server\profiles$\JDoe

If you want to migrate every setting without the network printers, you have to select every application except network printers.

now the folder is OK.
I migrate all applications without network printers.

Why that?
After i deselect to migrate the cookies the migration works fine.

Another question because licencing.
In the trial version i can migrate 3 user or 3 profiles?

That the index.dat file is locked by windows after the user logs off is a known issue of window. But this should happen only for the locally cached profiles.
This file should not be locked in the roaming profile.

To help me finding the error, could you please give me a quick description of your environment?

snsw02 - Is this a terminal server where user can log on and the general profile directory is redirected to E:\TSProfile? Or is snsw02 a file server where the roaming profiles are stored?

Sorry. I forgot the licensing question :-)

With the trial version you can migrate 3 users.
Their profiles can be migrated as often as you want to.

OK.
The profile is a centrally stored Citrix Roaming profile on a network share.
But the cookies are not so importend.

SNSW02 is a file server where the roaming profiles are stored.

OK.
How can the sw detect the count of users?
In the migrator i chose the user profile over folder/share.
